Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce

This homemade BBQ sauce is a game-changer for your BBQ creations! It’s completely vegan and free from refined sugars, offering a sweet and tangy flavour without compromising on health. Perfect for grilling, marinating, or as a dipping sauce, this BBQ sauce is a wholesome addition to your pantry.

Makes 2 cups

Directions

  1. Preheat a sauté pan over medium heat. Cook the chopped onion for 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until caramelized.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly. Deglaze with ¼ cup of water.
  3. Add tomato sauce, ½ cup water, apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, molasses, smoked paprika, chili powder, black pepper, salt and tamari. Stir and bring to a simmer. Cook for 3-5 minutes until slightly reduced.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool for 15 minutes. Blend until smooth, transfer to a jar, and refrigerate until ready to use.

Sauce can be kept in a sealed container in the fridge for up to one week.
