Busy Mornings Call for Smoothies!

Mornings are crazy in my household. Especially when I am living with 6 boys (I mean men….lol). Between my two boys, my husband and OH, our 3 hockey billets, our kitchen is one busy place.

Starting off the day with the “right” breakfast has been a HUGE thing in my family. In fact, when I think of it I can still hear my grandfathers words (in his Polish accent) now. “Natalia, you need to eat a good breakfast”, lunch ok, but a healthy breakfast”.

Now that I have kids of my own……and 3 amazing hockey billets, having nutritional items in our home is mandatory, and a lifestyle that we all choose. However, when are are all trying to get out the door at the same time, eating right to start off our day can be challenging. Between the 7 of us, we have the following allergies going on: dairy, corn, wheat, oh and protein! So finding something quick to make in the mornings that we can all feel satisfied with is a WIN-WIN!

Smoothies in our home is serious business. I can’t tell you how many blenders we have a’rouring in the mornings, and the best part is, everyone in our household can have one…no matter what the diet or allergy.

Today we are sharing with you some staple ingredients to have in your home for making you own smoothies along with two delicious recipes.

List of Ingredients to have in the home for quick and delicious morning smoothies:

  • Smoothie Blender
  • Ice
  • Spinach
  • Chia Seeds
  • Coconut Milk or Almond Milk
  • Fresh or Frozen fruit of any kind (seasonal or just your fave)
  • All Natural Peanut Butter
  • Oats
  • Protein Powder OR Fermented Vegan Protein (as shown in these images)

Ok now for our latest creation. I had my 3 hockey billets help me with this one. We seriously just made this one up together on the spot! The boys and I grabbed some items already found in our home from our local Nature’s Fare Market store. Here’s what we came up with:

Quick and Easy 4 Ingredient Smoothie 

  • 1 scoop of Fermented Vegan Protein (Vanilla Flavoured)
  • Couple handfuls of blueberries
  • 1 TBSP of Chia Seeds
  • Coconut Milk
  • 4 Ice cubes

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients in the listed order.
  2. Pop your lid on, blend away.
  3. Serve.

Want something a little different, try my billets go-to smoothie before practise each morning!

Athlete Morning Smoothie

  • 1 cup  – Almond Milk
  • 1 scoop – Vega Protein Plus +Greens
  •  ¼ cup  – Oats
  • Handful Fruit (Strawberries + Blueberries)
  • 2 TBSP –  All Natural Peanut Butter
  • 1 Tsp  – Chia Seeds

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients in the listed order.
  2. Pop your lid on, blend away.
  3. Serve.
