Varicose Veins
A varicose vein is the enlargement, bulging & discoloration of a vein often associated with dull, annoying aches & pains. Veins carry blood back to the heart and when the valves supporting that function cease to work properly (due to sitting or standing a lot in one position), blood accumulates, stretching & swelling them, ultimately causing a varicose vein. Complications such as bleeding under the skin, blood clots, leg ulcers, hemorrhage, or pulmonary embolism may occur.
Symptoms May Include:
- Enlarged, bulging veins in legs
- Bluish / lumpy looking veins
- Dull, nagging aches & pains
- Throbbing in legs after long periods of standing or sitting
- Restlessness
- Leg sores
- Itching
