Vaginitis
Vaginitis is the inflammation of the mucous membranes lining the vagina. Recognized by the burning sensation & abnormal vaginal discharge, vaginitis may be the result of viral, bacterial or fungal infection, vitamin B deficiency and/or irritations from foreign substances. Pregnancy, diabetes, stress & the use of antibiotics often disrupt the body’s natural balance of bacteria resulting in the overgrowth of infection-causing bacteria.
Symptoms May Include:
- Itching or burning in & around the vaginal area
- Painful intercourse
- Thin, watery discharge—may be tinged with blood
