Stress
Stress is defined as anytime the body must change the way it performs, thinks or feels in response to a physical, mental, social or emotional stimulus. Stress causes the body to increase secretion of adrenaline & other hormones. The heart beats faster, muscles tighten, blood pressure rises, digestion slows & the absorption of nutrition is compromised. Stress has a snowball effect in the body & can lead to anxiety, phobias, OCD & other more serious illnesses.
Symptoms May Include:
- Fatigue
- Irritability & teeth grinding
- Gastrointestinal disorders
- Chronic headaches
- Changes in appetite
- Memory loss and/or loss of libido
- Low self-esteem and/or withdrawal
- Cold hands and/or shallow breathing
- High blood pressure
- Insomnia and/or nervous twitches
