Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is fairly common and more painful than dangerous. IBS is a digestive disorder where the normal muscular contractions of the digestive tract lose their rhythm. The irregular & uncoordinated contractions interfere with movement of food & elimination. This leads to a build up of mucus & toxins in the intestine. Obstructions may occur & levels of severity range from discomfort to extreme pain. IBS can be managed.
Symptoms May Include:
- Abdominal pain
- Anorexia
- Bloating and/or gas
- Constipation and/or diarrhea
- Intolerance to certain foods
- Nausea
- Mucus in the stool
- Sometimes severe headaches & vomiting may occur
- Malnutrition & weakened immunity
