Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a group of diseases associated with the optic nerve and may cause irreversible vision damage if left untreated. Glaucoma is closely associated to stress, nutritional deficiencies and high blood pressure. Open-angle Glaucoma is most common – fluid is unable to drain properly. Closedangle Glaucoma is less common but attacks are more severe and symptoms appear later on. Normal Tension Glaucoma is like the other two but without increased fluid tension in the eye.

Symptoms May Include:

  • Gradual loss or darkening of peripheral vision
  • Marked decrease in night vision
  • Inability of eye to adjust to dark
  • Chronic low-grade headaches
  • Seeing halos around lights
  • Frequent change in eyeglass prescription
  • Throbbing eye pain
  • Sudden loss of sight
