Enlarged Prostate
The prostate is a walnut sized male sex gland positioned behind and encircling the urethra. Prostatitis is the inflammation of the prostate & is associated with: benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) and/ or prostate cancer. The usual cause is bacterial infection, resulting in acute or chronic infectious prostatitis. Non infectious prostatitis also occurs with seeming cause. BPH is the gradual enlargement of the prostate and is hormone related.
Symptoms May Include:
- Pain, fever (with infection)
- Pain/burning during urination
- Increasingly frequent urination
- Difficulty starting/stopping urination
- Decrease in size & force of flow
- Repeated bladder/kidney infection
- Blood or pus in urine
- Discomfort between scrotum & rectum
