Ear Infection
Most common amongst children, ear infections can occur on the outer ear or in the middle ear. Infection may be preceded by an upper respiratory tract infection, an allergic reaction, or teething in infants. Recurring ear infections generally indicate a resistance to original treatment and proper elimination of bacteria in the ear canal. Ear infections can become severe and cause hearing damage if left untreated.
Symptoms May Include:
- Sensation of pressure
- Sharp, dull or throbbing pain
- Feeling of fullness in the ear
- Fever of 103°F or higher
- Discharge from the ear
- Increased sense of pain when touched or pulled
- Pain worsens in the cold
