Common Cold
The common cold, otherwise known as an infection of the upper respiratory tract, is caused by a virus (most common are the rhino viruses). Colds are associated with cold weather because most cold viruses thrive in these temperatures. Primary Season: Late August – April. Duration: 7-10 days. Healthy adults average 2 colds per year. Healthy children average more. Most colds run their course in about a week but some may lead to more severe conditions such as ear infections etc.
Symptoms May Include:
- Head congestion
- Nasal congestion
- Sore throat
- Coughing
- Headache
- Sneezing
- Watery eyes
- Moderate fatigue
- Fever in young children
