With the onset of 2012 many people will be pledging to stick to various New Year’s resolutions. No matter how successful these resolutions may prove to be, the thought process behind creating them allows for self evaluation and personal insight into what is necessary to help fulfill your goals for a healthy and happy life.

If you haven’t made your list of resolutions yet, here are the top 10 New Year’s resolutions for 2012. If you have made your list, tell us about it!

1. Lose Weight

This is probably one of the most common resolutions. Was this one of your resolutions from the past year? If so, be encouraged this year to stick to your goal until you see positive results. Make a plan of what you will give up (late night snacks, an extra meal) in exchange for a healthier body. Remember small steps can make a large impact on your health and fitness.

2. Getting Organized

Get rid of the clutter – both physically and mentally. Organizing your “stuff” aids in becoming a disciplined, punctual, efficient person. Being mentally organized encourages us to handle life’s inevitable problems in a calm and productive manner. Simple things such as making a daily goal list each morning can go a long way towards leading an organized life.

3. Spend Less, Save More

The average specialty coffee drinker spends an average of $150 a month on coffee purchases alone, that is $1800 a year! Many people spend money on unnecessary things without any justification. Money is an important thing in life and should be spent very carefully no matter how wealthy a person may be. Here’s a simple rule for you to follow in 2012 -  before you buy something, always take a minute to think if this is something that you need or something that you want. By doing this, you will be able to cut out most of the impulse purchases and save a lot of money in the process.

4. Enjoy Life to the Fullest

Life only comes once and should be enjoyed as much as possible in the right way. It is an individual’s duty to continuously motivate him or herself so that intended goals can be realized.  Find joy in your life and share joy with others. To do good for yourself, do something good for someone else. Make a resolution to find a reason everyday to enjoy life, take pleasure in everything that you do and enjoy every little moment in life, this will make life worth living!.

5. Staying Fit and Healthy

Staying physically and mentally fit is another important resolution which can change your life for the better. Regular exercise for half an hour everyday can help substantially towards keeping mental peace. Challenge yourself to stay both mentally and physically active.

6. Learn Something Exciting

Time waits for no one and it should never be wasted. Where do you waste most of your time each day? Can you cut down on that wasted time and learn a new skill, or teach someone something you know. Use your time and to learn and express yourself in exciting ways.

7. Drink More Water

This seems like an obvious fact not a resolution, yet many people are very dehydrated. Water is our source for health. It keeps our minds active, blood circulating, toxins eliminated and aids in overall wellness. For every glass of caffeinated beverage consumed it takes 4 cups to balance the loss of fluids.  Depending on your activity levels, 8 glasses a day is a minimal consumption level, strive to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water each day.

8. Helping Others Achieve Their Dreams

A great resolution is to help others. It is a great feeling to know that our actions can make other people smile. You don’t need to be rich to help others. You can help others in 2012 with your time and skills. Often sharing a smile and a sincere complement with someone can not only brighten their day, but help them remember the positive things in their life.

9. Fall in Love

Love is a wonderful feeling, one that comes from within and ignites the soul. Fall in love with someone new, or celebrate the love you currently have. However, being in love doesn’t always mean finding someone else to love. Be in love with YOU – celebrate your passion towards your life and the fulfillment of your goals. The more love you share the more love you will receive.

10. Spend More Time with Family

Family is everything – they are your past, present, and future all in one. Family is often the one place that people can be themselves, relax, and share feelings and memories. Spending more time with family in 2012 will give time to reconnect with who you are and those who share your unconditional love.

Tell us, what is you resolution?
