WHAT IS BELLY FAT?

Belly fat primarily comprises visceral, or omentum, fat. This fat is different than subcutaneous fat (the fat you can pinch). Experts agree that omentum fat is the least desirable fat on the body when it comes to supporting good health. The loss of belly fat in both men and women can promote overall health.*

HOW MUCH BELLY FAT IS TOO MUCH?

Measure your waist across your belly button. Total inches should be half of your height or less.2 Example: If you are 5’6” or 66 inches, your waist should be 33 inches or less.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND HIGH-LINOLEIC SAFFLOWER OIL

In a 16-week, double-blind controlled study conducted at Ohio State University, researchers compared high-linoleic safflower oil (SAF) with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).1 They studied post-menopausal women who had high blood sugar and wanted to lose weight. These participants showed an average reduction of 6.3 percent belly fat and an average of 20.3 percent increase in the important belly fat hormone adiponectin*.

  • SAF outperformed CLA in measurements of trunk adipose (belly fat) and adiponectin levels. There was no significant change in adiponectin or trunk adipose loss with CLA.
  • Belly fat measured by DXA:SAF group reduced an average of 6.3 percent belly fat. Some saw reductions of up to 9.4 percent belly fat.*
  • Adiponectin: Levels of this important belly fat hormone increased an average of 20.3 percent.*
  • Study participants obtained results with no modifications to exercise or diet regimen.† However, SafSlim is a wonderful addition to any diet and exercise program.

SafSlim FAQ

Is Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) the same as high-linoleic safflower oil (SAF)?

It is not the same. In a 16-week, double-blind crossover study conducted in two Ohio State University trials, researchers compared high-linoleic safflower oil (SAF) with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). They studied post-menopausal women who had high blood sugar and wanted to lose weight. These participants showed an average reduction of 6.3 percent belly fat, an increase in lean body mass, and an average of 20.3 percent increase in adiponectin.

SafSlim contains fat and calories, so how does it help reduce belly fat*?

Studies have demonstrated that good fats are healthy. There are two types of oils: essential and non-essential. Polyunsaturated linoleic safflower oil is considered a healthy essential fatty acid, which research has shown to be cardio-supportive and beneficial for healthy metabolism.*

Why is the patent-pending technology of SafSlim the best option?

Our patent-pending emulsification technology creates a delicious and creamy way to deliver this linoleic oil. Emulsifying fatty acids helps with digestion and assimilation. Our Tangerine Cream Fusion is an award-winning flavor acknowledged by the International Taste and Quality Institute.

Can I just take a soft gel form of linoleic safflower?

Yes, you can, but you’d have to take 8 soft gels per day—240 per month—to get the same amount used in the research. SafSlim offers a concentrated source of linoleic acid in just 2 tablespoons daily.*

I’ve heard that a minimal amount of belly fat is healthier. How much is too much?

Measure your waist across your belly button. If that number represents more than half of your height (in inches), you are carrying too much belly fat. We suggest you use SafSlim in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and exercise program.

How long does it take to see results if taking the recommended dose of 2 Tbsp./day of SafSlim?

The university studies on high-linoleic safflower oil, SafSlim’s main ingredient, showed that participants (post-menopausal women who were overweight and had high blood sugar) began having results after 12 weeks with better results at the end of the study (week 16). They lost an average of 6.3 % and up to 9.4% belly fat during the 16-week period. The results started to occur after week 12 and most of the reduction of belly fat was noted after the 16-week mark. The study also showed that it took four weeks before the linoleic acid levels began to rise in participants’ blood.

Since each individual is different, it is not possible to determine when a person will begin to see results. Issues such as pre-existing health conditions may interfere with progress or results. Prior to beginning any exercise or diet program, you should consult your health care professional. For best results, use in conjunction with a sound diet and exercise program.

Why is belly fat so hard to lose?

Scientific evidence indicates that the accumulation of omentum (belly) fat can be related to hormonal imbalance and issues related to blood sugar and insulin sensitivity. High linoleic safflower oil – SafSlim’s main ingredient – showed in university studies to increase the adiponectin hormone and support blood sugar levels.

Does SafSlim work without diet and exercise?

SafSlim is based on a 16-week university study of post-menopausal women who wanted to lose weight and had high blood pressure. The participants taking high-linoleic safflower oil, SafSlim’s main ingredient, showed up to 9.4% truncal fat loss, especially belly fat, and an average of 20.3% increase in adiponectin, an important hormone in belly fat reduction, with no change in their diet or exercise program. ReBody recommends, however, using SafSlim as part of a sound diet and exercise program.

If safflower oil is the ingredient that helps belly fat, couldn’t I just buy it at the grocery store and take it?

You probably won’t find a high-linoleic safflower oil in the grocery store. The safflower oil commonly found in the grocery store is an oleic oil, a non-essential fatty acid generally used for cooking. It has a higher smoke point for cooking purposes. The safflower oil high in linoleic acid is not designed for cooking because it has a low smoke point.

If you did find a high-linoleic safflower oil in the grocery store, the question is would you be inclined to ingest this vegetable oil two-times daily? Most would agree this isn’t tolerable.

SafSlim was designed using this unique essential fatty acid — high linoleic safflower oil – the same used in the Ohio State University studies that proved to reduce belly fat up to 9.3% and to increase adiponectin by an average of 20.3%. A patent-pending delivery system pre-emulsifies the oil so it’s easier to digest. It’s flavored without any added sugar, creating a delicious, creamy consistency that is natural and that people look forward to taking.*

Does SafSlim work for any other body fat?

The university study showed a specific reduction in truncal fat, especially belly fat, and increase in adiponectin, an important belly fat hormone. The average reduction in truncal fat, especially belly fat, was 6.3% and the average increase in adiponectin was 20.3%. However, some non-study SafSlim users report weight loss or inches lost in other areas, particularly when they’ve included diet and exercise.

Is SafSlim just for women?

SafSlim is a natural supplement and believed to be effective for both men and women, and therefore, can be used by both men and women as part of a regular diet and exercise program. Men who have entered the SafSlim Lean Belly Challenge are seeing results. ReBody is also conducting three clinical studies in 2012 that include men participants.

Will SafSlim curb my appetite?

Many people report that taking SafSlim before a meal curbs their appetite and others report reduced sugar cravings. High linoleic safflower oil, the main ingredient in SafSlim, helps support normal fasting blood sugar levels and insulin sensitivity. The university studies showed reduction in CRP and increases in HDL, which can support decreased appetite and increased metabolism.

Who should not take this product?

High linoleic safflower oil is safe for almost any adult and SafSlim contains natural ingredients with no harmful stimulants.

Pregnant or nursing women should check with their health care provider, as should anyone starting a new supplement. People with sensitive gastrointestinal systems may try taking SafSlim in smaller amounts with a meal should the suggested use of 1 Tbsp. before two meals a day cause upset.

Does SafSlim have to be taken before a meal?

Safslim works best before a meal, however, it can be taken during or after a meal. The most important thing is to take the optimal serving – 1 Tablespoon two times a day.

Are SafSlim’s ingredients organic?

Although SafSlim’s ingredients are not organic, SafSlim does not contain: artificial flavors, sweeteners or colors; wheat, soy, dairy, milk, lactose, or sugar. It is non-GMO, vegetarian, and gluten-free.

What happens when I reach my ideal size? Should I continue SafSlim?

SafSlim contains natural ingredients that are indicated to be safe for daily use. The research showed the results for truncal fat, especially belly fat loss and adiponectin increase, were best at the end of the 16-week study period. The clinical study did not include a maintenance program. However, our scientists believe once your ideal size is reached, you may want to continue taking 1 Tbsp. per day for maintenance to determine if SafSlim helps you maintain your ideal size. It is also fine to return to 2 Tbsp. per day during higher than average caloric intake periods.
