Extreme sweating with hot flashes? Guest Blogger: Lorna Vanderhaeghe

For some women sweating is so severe during menopause that they have to change their clothing and bed sheets often. Sweating not only looks and feels bad but we also lose vital minerals, especially iron, when we sweat excessively.  I smiled when Dr. Oz recommended sage for sweating as my new super-charged Menosmart Plus menopause formula has 300mg of sage added to ensure rapid reduction of sweating and hot flashes. Europe just approved a daily dose of 300mg of sage to be used for the treatment of menopausal hot flashes and night sweats. In one clinical study using 300mg of sage, 30 women reported rapid relief of hot flashes and night sweats within 4 weeks. Hot flushes and night sweats disappeared completely for 20 women and anxiety and mood improved as well. The researchers stated sage was found not to affect hormone levels ensuring its safety. Along with the sage, Menosmart Plus also contains black cohosh, dong quai, gamma oryzanol, vitex and hesperidin to provide relief of menopause symptoms. Black cohosh is so safe it has now been studied in women with estrogen receptor positive breast cancer taking the drug tamoxifen so we know it has no hormone action but works on our temperature gauge to eliminate hot flashes and night sweats. Vitex, another herb in Menosmart Plus helps to enhance progesterone levels and reduces male facial hair growth in menopausal women. Menosmart Plus can be taken with or without hormone replacement therapy. Many women on hormone replacement therapy still...

Gluten Intolerant? Here is what to do, by guest author Michale Hartte

ForkBanner

Gluten intolerance is one of the most under-diagnosed conditions in western society. From chronic indigestion to celiac disease, osteoporosis and even multiple sclerosis, our bodies’ reactions to gluten prove that many of us are simply not equipped to process high levels of it.

Obviously, this presents a problem considering the commercial dominance of today’s cultivated, high-gluten grains. So, what to do?  For starters, try following ancestral wisdom by utilizing properly prepared grains (i.e. those that have been soaked or sprouted).

Properly preparing our grains partially breaks down the difficult-to-digest gluten into easier to absorb components.

Those with celiac disease, wheat allergies or gluten intolerance have even been found to tolerate sourdough bread (if done correctly). Research has suggested that certain lactobacilli in sourdough culture, over a 24-hr period can almost completely digest the gluten that was originally present. [1] As always, careful consideration needs to be addressed when it comes to serious diseases like celiac therefore caution is advised. There may be other constituents in modern day wheat yet to be identified that is causing this condition.

Also, how about incorporating nutrient-rich foods into your busy lifestyle? While the second suggestion doesn’t directly address the gluten problem, you may find that healthier food choices end up improving your overall digestive system.

The Law of Giving and Receiving…not only for the holidays.

Many of us are familiar with the Law of Attraction, very similar is the Law of Giving. This holiday season remember the true power of giving, not just of material objects but your time, smiles, love, compliments, information, talents, encouragement, acknowledgment and thoughts. What you give will come back to you at time when you most need it, from sources you may not be aware of. When you give do so unconditionally, trusting that it will come back to you in some form.

It is not the physical action of giving that makes the impact, it is how you give and the energy behind giving. Give freely and happily, without effort or obligation, because the law of cause and effect will prove that you get back only what you put out. If you give grudgingly you receive the same action back in turn. Think of it as a business transaction, with the bank as the universe. This is how it works: You give someone something, anything that you have with you – freely and happily. The Universe, by the law, finds the best way to give back that energy to you in the form of something that you do not have with you. Often with interest, at a time when it is most appropriate, in the most appropriate form. It is an amazing process. Obviously, the more you give, the more possibilities you create for yourself.

Get out of the habit of thinking that you should receive something first before you...
